A Windsor woman is facing an impaired driving charge after a collision involving a jet ski.
It happened on August 15 around 7:47 p.m. when provincial police received a call that a jet ski had collided with a dock in Lake St. Clair.
Officers attended the scene and located the operator of the jet ski. According to police, the driver was displaying signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.
As a result, 55-year-old Elizabeth Balazsy has been charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
The charges have not been proven in court.
"It's disappointing when we hear of individuals operating personal watercraft or vessels while under the influence of alcohol or drugs," said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Glenn Miller. "People enjoy time with family and friends on our waterways, perhaps in even greater numbers than in years before. Unfortunately, like on our roadways, people continue to disrespect the laws putting others and certainly themselves at great risk."
Anyone with information on the incident or any similar incidents are encouraged to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
