Waitlist created on local COVID-19 vaccine booking site

The local vaccine booking system has been opened for prioritized essential workers identified in Group 1 of the provincial vaccine eligibility criteria.

The group includes elementary and secondary school workers, workers responding to critical events, food manufacturing and distribution workers and farmworkers.

The health unit has also introduced a waitlist on the website. The waitlist is for all individuals 40 and over. People can sign up for a day they would be available to go to any of the vaccine sites with short notice.

“At times, there are people that don’t show up, and there are spaces available,” said CEO and Chief Nursing Officer Theresa Marentette. “So, the waitlist was created for people to be able to put their name on a waiting list, and if there is the ability and we realize that there will be a vaccine that they will be called for the opportunity to receive the vaccine.”

A new waitlist will be created each day. Individuals who want to be on a waitlist will be required to sign up for the specific day. At the time of publishing, all waitlist spots were filled until Monday, May 10.

In addition, 14 local pharmacies in hotspot regions in the community will soon be getting deliveries of the Moderna vaccine.

These will be available for residents 18 years of age and older who live in the identified hotspot locations. The 14 pharmacies have not been identified however, the health unit indicated there are at least two pharmacies in each hotspot postal code.
