The Windsor Essex region hit a major milestone over the weekend with over 50 per cent of the overall population at least partially vaccinated.
As of Tuesday morning, 227,602 residents have received at least one dose. That's 66.7 per cent of adults who have received at least one dose. Only 4.3 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated.
Mass vaccination sites and pharmacies with the Pfizer vaccine are now vaccinating all residents 12 years and older. Most appointments at the Windsor mass vaccinations sites are booked until the beginning of next week, however there are a number of appointments available at the Leamington clinic this week.
This week, around 17,000 doses are expected to be administered in Windsor-Essex.
Pharmacies in Windsor-Essex that will be administering a second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to people who received their first dose between March 10 and March 19 should be receiving their allocation by the end of the day. Residents who qualify can check wevax.ca for a list of participating pharmacies. That list should be updated by the end of the day Tuesday.
Over the last two days, there were 50 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the region. There are now 360 active cases in the community and 195 of those involve a variant of concern.
