Once again, the annual Ford Fireworks on Monday night will be on television.
Not only is the show not open to the public to view, but it also moved to the Lake St. Clair Metropark location this year. The park will remain closed to the public.
While the State of Michigan has lifted its pandemic restrictions, they remain in effect in Ontario.
However, the Parade Company, which partners with Ford Motor Company to present the spectacle, said this year's presentation would be the largest display in the event's 63rd-year history. Zambelli Fireworks and international choreographer Patrick Brault will set off more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects during the 26-minute show.
It can be enjoyed from home on television on WDIV-Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit in Detroit and on Cable 5 in Windsor. The pre-show starts at 9 p.m., and the fireworks get underway an hour later.
Organizers hope to return to the riverfront next year for the traditional in-person show and Rooftop Party in downtown Detroit.
In past years, the event has drawn hundreds of thousands of people to the Windsor riverfront.
The Ford Motor Company Fund will honour teachers, professors, and school counsellors who have worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic during the show.
