Not one, but two tornadoes touched down last Saturday night in Windsor and Leamington.
The Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University confirmed it Thursday after an investigation earlier in the week.
It said the first twister touched down in the Ellis Street East and Pierre Avenue area, causing tree and minor roof damage to homes there.
It measured EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale and had a top wind speed of 125 km/h. Researchers believe it had a track measuring 2.37 km long and had a maximum width of 350 metres.
In Leamington, an EF-1 tornado touched down on County Road 18 between Highway 77 and Albuna Townline. In addition to damaging trees, it also damaged greenhouses.
That one had a top wind speed of 145 km/hr, a track of almost 2.5 km and a maximum width of 190 metres.
Both tornadoes are still being investigated. Researchers plan to look at satellite data next.
The tornadoes were two of four detected that day.
