After the dousing Windsor-Essex received in the past two days, the Essex Region Conservation Authority warns residents to stay away from waterways.
They have swollen already, and more rain is in the forecast.
The authority said on Thursday, rainfall totals varied across the region but ranged from 50 mm to 100 mm.
"Due to the elevated lake levels, elevated watercourse levels, wet ground conditions, and forecasted small amounts of rainfall, there is a concern for the accumulation in low lying areas throughout Essex Region, especially adjacent to and within floodplain areas of all major waterways and shoreline areas," read a statement.
It has issued a watershed condition statement which will remain in effect until noon on Saturday.
"The combination of slippery banks, waves, waves overtopping shoreline structures, and fast-moving water can be dangerous," cautioned the agency. "Standing water can also present its own unseen hazards. Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing or standing water and shoreline areas."
The Essex Region Conservation Authority has already extended flood watches for the shore of Lake Erie until 11 a.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Thursday for the shore of Lake St. Clair from Windsor to Stoney Point in Lakeshore.
