Two classes at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School dismissed

Two classes from a Windsor Catholic elementary school have been sent home over COVID-19 concerns.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) reported Wednesday evening that two classes were dismissed from St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School after two confirmed positive cases of the virus were reported at the school.

"We learned of the confirmed cases this afternoon and have notified the affected students that they are not to attend school Thursday. The health unit will notify those students when they are able to return to school," the board said in a statement.

Parents and guardians are advised to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 and to keep them at home and call their healthcare provider should any develop.

There are five active cases of the virus within four WECDSB schools. A full list of cases and outbreaks can be found on the school board's website.

The Greater Essex County District School Board also reported two new cases, one each at Marlborough Public School and at Queen Elizabeth Public School.  It has had 57 cases of the virus since the start of the school year.
