Saying Farrow Riverside Miracle Park is much more than a neighbourhood green space, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens announced the final phase of upgrades is underway.
The park on Wyandotte Street East has become a city-wide attraction.
Last year, the city re-developed the pool. New accessible washrooms with adult change tables, a family change room, and showers were added. The plumbing and electrical equipment were brought up to date too.
This week, a new 700-metre, fully-accessible wellness track is being installed along the perimeter of the north baseball diamond. The diamond will also get new dugouts, players' benches, and aluminum benches with guard rails and notches for wheelchair seating.
New accessible outdoor workout equipment is going in at the request of residents.
"Farrow Riverside Miracle Park is the first Windsor park to receive these accessible exercise stations," said Mayor Drew Dilkens.
Eventually, other city parks will feature the equipment.
"The pandemic and the ensuing supply shortages did cause some delays, but we are close to the finish line," said Dilkens.
The re-developed park will hold its official grand opening on May 14, 2022, kicking off Windsor's inaugural Miracle League baseball season.
