"Hate-motivated" graffiti found in Amherstburg park

Officers with the Windsor police Amherstburg detachment are appealing to the public for tips relating to some obscene graffiti found at Jack Purdie Park.

According to investigators, patrol officers were notified of the vandalism last Sunday, November 7.

Police say a frowning face with eyes shaped as the letter 'x' along with a racial slur was found spray painted onto the playground equipment at the park.

"Incidents such as this are taken very seriously and can result in criminal charges. Hate motivated crimes can have a harmful impact on the entire community and will not be tolerated," Windsor police said in a statement.

Police believe the incident took place sometime on November 6 0r 7.

Anyone who discovers vandalism similar to the described incident, or who may have information is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-736-2252 extension: 230.
