The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has added another 17 cases of COVID-19 to its total caseload.

As of Tuesday morning, public health officials were still investigating three cases. Another eight were from close contact with another confirmed case, five were traced back to community transmission, and one was related to travel.

The total caseload since March 2020 is 20,980.

The number of active cases dipped from Monday to 280 as 12 cases were added to the resolved column. Of those, 126 involve a variant of concern.

There are 18 people in the hospital with the virus.

Meanwhile, outbreaks have ended at three more schools; Vincent Massey Secondary School, Margaret D. Bennie Public School, and Princess Elizabeth Public School.

Outbreaks at two others, Ecole elementaire Catholique Saint Jean Baptiste and Essex Public School continue.

They also continue at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital and one long-term care home. There are seven in workplaces and just as many in the community.

So far, 86.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents over 12 have had one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, 82.7 per cent have had both, and over 10,000 residents have had their third booster shot.

Over 77.7 per cent of Ontario's population is fully vaccinated, while 74.59 per cent of Canadian residents have had both shots.

Ontario reported 481 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and an additional death.  There are 4,814 active cases across the province.
