The City of Windsor has launched the request for proposal phase to complete upgrades of 32 playgrounds throughout the city.
In July, Windsor City Council unanimously approved $9.4 million to build the new play structures.
The city will begin accepting bids this week. Once a contract is awarded, construction will start in March 2022 and continue until December 2023. In most cases, existing playgrounds will remain open while work is underway.
Each playground redevelopment will cost around $300,000.
“The entire city, including Ward 7, is experiencing unprecedented investment in outdoor spaces, amenities, trails, wayfinding signage, safety upgrades, and much more. The proposed 2022 City budget includes $26 million to enhance and improve these vital spaces. These investments will improve quality of life within the city of Windsor, and continue to position us as the perfect place to live, work, play, and raise families,” said Ward 7 Councillor Jeewen Gill.
Other Parks and Recreation improvements proposed in the upcoming 2022 capital budget include upgrades to Gateway Park, Stodgell Park and the reconstruction of the Peace Fountain.
