The City of Windsor will offer those going to the Ford Fireworks on June 27 another way to avoid the usual traffic congestion that follows the show, free bike parking.
The Windsor Bicycling Committee offered the service the last time the fireworks were held in person in 2019, and more than 100 cyclists used it.
"Our committee's role, at its root, is to try to promote cycling in our community," said committee chair and Windsor Ward 9 Councillor Kieran McKenzie. "By providing a secure and monitored space for people to leave their bikes, we are removing a barrier that will encourage more people to consider riding their bike to this amazing event."
The fireworks bring tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people to the city's downtown the night of the fireworks. By cycling, those who go can avoid the usual traffic congestion and parking fees.
Bike parking will be in Charles Clark Square from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The space will be monitored all evening.
