Ontario Provincial Police have arrested four people in connection with two robberies in Essex County last month.
Officers were called to a business near the intersection of Seacliff Drive West and Erie Street South around 4:20 a.m on Monday, September 26. They learned a man entered the business, brandished a knife, and demanded money. The man was confronted and took off on foot. The employee was not physically injured in the confrontation.
A second robbery was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at a business on County Road 20 in Kingsville. Constable Steven Duguay said investigators believe the two incidents are connected.
Working with investigators from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), the OPP identified and arrested four people.
A 37-year-old Leamington man has been charged with two counts of robbery with a weapon, two counts of disguise with intent, three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking, and one count of resisting a peace officer.
A 35-year-old from Leamington faces a single charge of possession of stolen property under $5,000.
A 37-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Leamington are charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.
The charges have not been proven in court. All four will have a chance to defend themselves from the charges at a later date in a Windsor court.
