Two arrested after a series of break-and-enters

Windsor police have announced two arrests following a series of break-ins at businesses.

The service's Target Base Unit had been looking into several incidents between August and October. Two suspects were identified during the investigation, according to Constable Bianca Jackson.

On Sunday, Windsor officers spotted one of the suspects on Wyandotte Street East near Strabane Avenue. When police tried to pull over the 29-year-old man, the man took off at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

The following day, LaSalle police responded to a report that the man had stolen over $5,000 worth of merchandise from a business on Malden Road near Normandy Street. When LaSalle police spotted his vehicle soon after, he sped off again. Windsor police found the man later Monday on Walker Road near Seminole Street and arrested him without incident.

The second suspect, a 28-year-old Windsor man, was picked up at a home on Wyandotte Street East near Thompson Boulevard.

The 29-year-old, from Windsor, was charged through Windsor police with three counts of theft under $5,000 and one count each of break-and-enter, uttering threats, dangerous driving, and failure to stop for police. He has also been charged through LaSalle with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, and failure to stop for police.

The 28-year-old is charged through Windsor police with two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property.

The investigation is still active. The charges have not been proven in court.
