The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board will resume in-person learning after developments Monday in the CUPE strike.
In a statement on its official website, the English Catholic board announced it would return to regular classes on Tuesday.
The return to class came as Ontario Premier Doug Ford promised Monday to revoke Bill 28, which imposed a contract on CUPE's 55,000 education support workers province-wide and return to the bargaining table. The condition was that the union end its job action and get children back to class.
CUPE had begun a protest on Friday in response to the passage of Bill 28 and the government's use of the notwithstanding clause to shield it from being challenged in court. This resulted in school boards all over Ontario either cancelling classes or moving to an online model.
"We expect all students and staff to return to school Tuesday morning and follow their regular schedules," read the online notice. "Transportation will be provided as usual. We hope that CUPE and the government will return to the bargaining table as soon as possible and arrive at a contract that satisfies all those involved."
Locally, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence, the French-language Catholic board, had also shifted to online learning due to the labour dispute. That board will also resume in-person learning on Tuesday.
The Greater Essex County District School Board had gone ahead with regular classes Friday and Monday.
