Remembrance Day closures, service changes in Windsor

As the City of Windsor remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice, there will be a pause in the services offered on Friday, Remembrance Day.

Windsor City Hall, and all municipal buildings in Windsor-Essex, will be closed on Friday.

Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery. Some banks and financial institutions may be closed or on shortened hours Friday. Be sure to call ahead to avoid a wasted trip.

Both The Beer Store and LCBO will open at noon on Friday and resume normal hours Saturday.

The 311 Customer Contact Centre is closed but will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday. The 211 Call Centre remains open 24-7 as usual.

All four public school boards that serve Windsor-Essex will have class Friday as usual, along with St. Clair College. Classes will take place at the University of Windsor, though it is study week for law students.

Garbage collection and recycling pickup will continue as scheduled on Remembrance Day. The City's public drop-off and household chemical waste depots are also open.

All of the City of Windsor's arenas, community centres, and indoor pools are open Friday. The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at Windsor Water World is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For parking enforcement, municipal payment offices in Windsor will be closed on Friday. Payments can still be made online.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be closed.

The Windsor Public Library is closed Friday in observance of Remembrance Day.

Transit Windsor buses will operate on a normal weekday schedule. The tunnel bus to Detroit is suspended but is scheduled to resume service on November 27. The customer service office at the downtown terminal will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House are open, and admission is free on Friday.
