A Windsor-Essex youth camp will benefit from the support offered by the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation (WECF).
To commemorate the foundation's 40th anniversary, a legacy cabin will be built at Bryerswood Youth Camp in Amherstburg. The cabin is one of several legacy projects being planned by the WECF across Windsor-Essex.
"We are very grateful and thankful that WECF has chosen to support us in such a significant way, showing that they believe in our vision for Bryerswood and the youth of Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent," said Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club President Kathi Poupard in a media release.
The cabin will sleep six people and be paid for with a $25,000 community legacy investment.
"The facility is currently in the process of making facility upgrades, with the goal of maintaining year-round access for young people in the community," read the release from the Optimist Club. "This rustic but comfortable new cabin will provide much-needed accommodations, allowing more young visitors to enjoy the camp."
The camp was previously operated by the Girl Guides. Additional fundraising initiatives are in the works, with complete information available on the official Bryerswood website.
