When it comes to using public e-scooters to get around town, Windsorites are in the top three cities for embracing them as a mode of transportation.
Bird Canada released the results of a recent survey showing 98 per cent of respondents believe the public e-scooter program has a positive impact on the city.
"We love that Windsorites are seeing the direct lifestyle benefit of having micro-mobility options available, along with the positive impact on their community," said Bird Canada's Chief Operating Officer Alex Petre. "Since launching in 2019, we've worked extremely hard to win the trust and respect of the cities we serve."
The survey also suggested the majority of respondents, 56 per cent, want more vehicles, more parking spaces, and the program expanded to a larger area.
The survey, conducted between November 1 and 9, 2022, involved 3,030 respondents.
In addition to having some of its most loyal riders, the company said Windsor had the third-highest number of trips in 2022.
This past year alone, users in Windsor rode over 300,000 km. The average trip was 2.9 km, and the longest by a single customer was 67 km.
Province-wide, customers avoided 69,488 car journeys, preventing 82 metric tons of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
Bird Canada e-scooters and e-bikes are used in ten Canadian cities.
