DWBIA elects new chair, board of directors

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) has a set of new faces on its board of directors.

The new board began its term on April 25 and is comprised of people representing various forms of businesses in the downtown core.

"We are excited to welcome our new board members and look forward to their contributions as we continue to grow and innovate in the core," said DWBIA Executive Director Debi Croucher in a media release.

The new board chairman is Windsor realtor Chris MacLeod, the co-owner of Realty ONE Group Iconic.

"The expertise and experience of each incoming board member will be invaluable in guiding our strategic direction and helping us achieve our long-term goals," said MacLeod. "We are grateful to the outgoing board members, who we recognize for their contributions to the downtown during their tenure. The DWBIA, and the downtown as a community, would like to extend our sincerest thanks to them for their passion and their effort."

MacLeod succeeds hotel executive Brian Yeomans as DWBIA chair. Yeomans had been instrumental in helping guide the BIA through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Serving as vice-chairman will be restauranteur Andrew Corbett, a co-owner of The Bull and Barrel, a popular country bar on Ouellette Avenue. Jennie Atkins, of the Continuing Education Department at the University of Windsor, will be treasurer.

Rounding out the board are Windsor Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino, Misty Adams, gift shop owner; Ron Balla, businessman and founder of The Coffee Exchange; Windsor lawyer Sunny Bhatti; Ray Blanchard, the owner of the Bitcoin Building; and Olivia Holt of Maiden Lane Wine and Spirits.

The terms of the new board members run through November 2026 unless successors are named before then.
