Leamington Hospice receives funding

Leamington Hospice is receiving a boost of funding from the provincial government.

The palliative care service provider is getting an additional $473,000.

"Hospice care plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and specialized end-of-life care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. Funding and support for hospice services are essential in providing loved ones the ability to be close to home and each other," said Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones. "This additional funding helps to support and sustain hospice care locally in our community to service those families in need."

A portion of this funding will be used to connect people to more palliative and end-of-life services like grief and bereavement support for families and caregivers.

This is part of Ontario's $147.4 million investment over three years in communities across the province to connect more Ontarians to comfortable and dignified palliative care close to home and loved ones.

"This investment demonstrates the Government understands the value of community-based hospice palliative care and how it impacts the lives of everyone and supports the healthcare system with compassionate and cost-effective care," said Rick Firth, president and CEO of Palliative Care Ontario.
