Have you ever seen a blacksmith at work? Curious about how people in centuries past made butter?
The John R. Park Homestead is holding demonstrations of those arts, including quilting, woodcarving, basket weaving, and more.
On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the homestead is hosting its Lost Arts Festival. Local artists with unique talents will offer demonstrations and tips on how old hobbies may fit into your modern life.
"So much of what we do today happens in front of a digital screen, and that includes creative activities," said Homestead Curator Kris Ives. "This festival is a great opportunity to get hands-on with the creation of pieces that are both beautiful and functional, to meet artisans, to consider new hobbies, and to get inspired authentically, rather than virtually."
The kids can play with old-fashioned toys and games at different Imagination Stations.
Mike Houston will provide fiddle music with special guest Ray Pettigrew.
Admission is included with an ERCA Annual Pass, or you can skip the line by buying tickets online. Tickets are also available at the door.
