Youth arrested after weekend assault in Windsor

Windsor police say they have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with an assault this past weekend.

Police were called to a home on Church Street between Wyandotte Street West and Elliott Street West. When they arrived, they learned that two people were walking down a nearby street when they met five masked people in a black sedan, who allegedly threatened the pair with a weapon.

The suspects then followed the victims to the front porch of a home, when two of them got out of the car and sprayed the victims with a substance.

According to Windsor police, the youth, who is not being identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act, was wanted for three counts of assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, pointing a firearm, and unlicenced possession of a firearm.

He is also charged with possessing a weapon while prohibited, possession while committing an offence, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, and wearing a disguise to commit an offence.

The suspect is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, plus one count of failure to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.

The charges have not been proven in court.

An 18-year-old man has already been charged with similar offences and the three other suspects are still at large.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information or security camera footage to share should call Windsor police's Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
