Water restrictions lifted in Lakeshore

Water use restrictions have been lifted in all areas of the Municipality of Lakeshore.

The restrictions were lifted Saturday afternoon, though Lakeshore staff will continue to monitor and manage stormwater and drainage systems until water levels are normal.

During extreme rainfall, such as Thursday's storm, a bypass can occur at wastewater treatment plants.

A bypass is the intentional diversion of water from any portion of a facility, though the bypassed wastewater will still go through screening, grit removal, primary treatment, and final disinfection before being discharged into any water source.

According to Lakeshore staff, the Denis St. Pierre Water Pollution Control Plant is no longer bypassing, however, the water treatment facility in Comber (the Comber Lagoon) is.

Staff are working with the Ontario Clean Water Agency and Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks, to ensure a limited impact, the municipality said.

Drivers are also advised that all roadways that were closed due to flooding have now been cleared and opened.
