Two Windsor lawyers named to Superior Court of Justice

Two Windsor law firms have had partners called to the bench.

Federal Justice Minister and Attorney General Arif Virani announced Monday that Jennifer Bezaire, a former managing partner with Greg Monforton and Partners, has been appointed as a Superior Court of Justice in Ontario.

Also, Jason P. Howie, a partner with Howie Johnson Barristers in Windsor, has been appointed to the same bench in Sarnia.

Bezaire had been practicing law at Greg Monforton and Partners for almost 20 years, after beginning her law career at what is today Dentons LLP in Toronto.

"In our 42 years of practice, we have never seen anyone quite like Jennifer," Monforton and founding partner Brad Robitaille in a media release. "Simply put, she is a superstar. She has done it all: admirably prosecuting her clients’ cases, volunteering with lawyer advocacy groups and providing advice in government consultations to ensure her clients’ rights were protected."

Bezaire established a track record of success arguing on behalf of injured clients, often obtaining significant judgments in their favour. She lives in Amherstburg with her husband and has three children.

Howie is a 1987 graduate of University of Windsor Law, and was called to the Bar in 1989. He began as an associate at what is now Miller Canfield in Windsor, later opening his own practice, focusing on family law.

He has had experience arguing before all levels of Court in the province, and has been recognized in peer-reviewed literature as a leading lawyer in his field. He has also served as a Bar Admissions instructor in London and Windsor, specializing in professional responsibility and family law.

Howie is married with two adult children.
