Windsor company modernizing wastewater infrastructure

A Windsor company says new technology will help Ontario reach its goal of building 1.5-million homes over the next decade by cutting the cost of servicing land.

SheaRock Construction Group is investing almost $4.3-million in the technology, modernizing wastewater infrastructure. It would replace concrete manholes with a polyethene solution.

Not only is it cheaper, the company said it takes less time to install.

"Our new technology will bring much-needed innovation to Ontario while saving millions of dollars for taxpayers," said SheaRock President Daryl Rocheleau.

The investment will create 20 new jobs and retain another 46.

The Ontario government contributed $500,000 through its Regional Development Program - Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie announced the funding at SheaRock on Friday morning.

Since 2019, the Ontario government has invested $89-million in 82 projects, creating 1,800 jobs.

In its last budget, the Ford government proposed a new Ontario-Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit, saving companies 10 per cent on their Corporate Income Tax.
