Windsor residents will once again have a chance to provide input on what they would like to see in the next municipal budget.
For the second year in a row, the City has rolled out a set of interactive budget tools, to give residents a chance to learn how their tax dollars are spent, and give ideas on what should be included in the 2024 budget.
"As we plan for the 2024 budget cycle, this is an excellent opportunity for residents to let us know what their spending priorities are," said City Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Janice Guthrie.
There are three interactive tools being offered. The first, Prioritize, gives residents an opportunity to show what should take precedence in the City's ten-year capital project plan. Housing, parks, and emergency services are among the categories that people can rank according to preference.
The second is the Taxpayer Receipt Generator, which allows residents to input their 2023 municipal taxes and get a receipt showing how their money is being spent.
The third is the Budget Balancing Simulation, which provides people with a chance to adjust spending in a variety of areas.
The budget tools are being provided ahead of this fall's series of ward meetings, hosted by each of Windsor's ten city councillors. The first meeting is Tuesday night in Ward 8, with Gary Kaschak presiding at the Serbian Centre beginning at 6:30 p.m.
