Warrants issued for suspects in Windsor Buddhist temple break-in

Windsor police have issued warrants for two of the suspects connected to a break-and-enter last month at a downtown Buddhist temple.

It happened on Sunday, September 10, at the temple on Goyeau Avenue at East Tuscarora Street. Police say four male suspects entered Windsor from Highway 401 in a late-model Infiniti FX35 and were later seen on surveillance video casing the property.

Three men entered the residential apartment in the complex and removed a safe that contained an undisclosed amount of cash. They then fled, with the fourth suspect acting as the getaway driver.

While working with law enforcement agencies in London, Toronto, York, and the Peel Region, the four men were identified in a string of burglaries at places of worship across southern Ontario.

Province-wide warrants have been issued for 27-year-old Saveriu Ion and 32-year-old Florin Sperache.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the suspects' whereabouts should call the Windsor police's Target Base Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
