HDGH employee data compromised in data breach

The private information of nearly 1,400 employees of Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare was stolen in the ransomware attack last month.

In the latest update, the hospital confirmed that an employee database report that contained names, social insurance numbers, and basic pay rates was stolen.

Anyone employed by the hospital as of November 4, 2022, may have been affected. It does not appear that the database included volunteers or professional staff.

Staff have been provided two years of complimentary credit monitoring.

Former employees affected by the breach will be contacted by mail.

The data breach at Bluewater Health in Sarnia was even more severe. The hackers stole patient records of over 250,000 individuals dating back to February 1992. The breach included over 20,000 social insurance numbers.

Windsor Regional Hospital, Erie Shores Healthcare, and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance were also affected in the ransomware attack.
