The Ontario Provincial Police, again, remind drivers there are consequences for deciding to get behind the wheel after a few drinks.
Five drivers found out the hard way within 24 hours this weekend.
Three of the incidents involved collisions, and in one, officers clocked a vehicle going 135km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
The rush for OPP officers started just after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday when police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Foundry Street in Leamington. The investigating officer charged a 27-year-old Lakeshore man with two impaired driving charges.
In Essex around 11:30 a.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding, spoke with the driver, and suspected they had been drinking.
The officer arrested the woman after she refused to provide a breath sample, and he found an open bottle of liquor in the vehicle.
A 44-year-old Leamington woman will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor next month.
Back in Leamington, around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, an OPP officer spotted a vehicle travelling at more than 2 1/2 times the speed limit.
The OPP say the suspect appeared drunk and charged a 48-year-old Lakeshore man.
Half an hour later, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 3 at Marsh Road in Kingsville. A 27-year-old Windsor man faces impaired driving charges in that incident.
The final incident involved a second single-vehicle crash on Fox Street in Leamington. Police charged a 32-year-old Leamington man around 4 a.m. on Sunday after the officer observed signs of alcohol impairment.
In each case, police suspended the driver's license for 90 days and impounded the vehicle for a week.
