The City of Windsor has appointed its treasurer as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), after what city officials deemed an "exhaustive search."
Joe Mancina, selected by the city on Thursday, joined as part of the management team of Windsor's Finance Department in 1989. He advanced through several positions of increasing responsibility throughout the years before his appointment as Commissioner of Corporate Services, CFO and City Treasurer in 2016.
"On behalf of Council, I’m pleased to welcome Joe into his new role," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "With his deep experience and professionalism, I am confident that he will hit the ground running and help Windsor take advantage of the incredible opportunities that lie ahead."
Mancina's appointment comes after former CAO Jason Reynar departed from the role last April. Onorio Colucci, who held the position before Reynar, agreed to return on an interim basis while the city continued its search process.
"Assuming the role of Chief Administrative Officer during this exciting period of economic growth and renewed optimism in our city is very inspiring," said Mancina. "I look forward to leveraging my long standing municipal experience and in-depth corporate knowledge as a catalyst towards continuing to develop a strong, energized and committed administrative team that is focussed on achieving the Strategic Vision and goals established by our elected officials and also positioning us to maximize all of the exciting opportunities that are before us."
Mancina will officially assume his new role on May 1 and a search to fill his previous position will begin soon. Colucci’s final day at is May 5.
