WPS working with CMHA to reduce child exploitation in the community

The Windsor Police Service received nearly $97,000 to support victims of child exploitation.

The $96,954.00 Victim Support Grant from the provincial government will help the police service work with community partners to reduce the number of incidents in the community.

The Windsor Police Service will work specifically with the Canadian Mental Health Association's Windsor Essex Youth Wellness Hub.

“This funding will help the Windsor Police Service and the CMHA to help those victimized by child exploitation in the past,” said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. “It will also help to identify specific vulnerabilities for those children who are the most at risk of exploitation in our community.”

The government is providing over $4-million in grants to police services throughout the province to support victims and survivors of intimate partner violence, human trafficking and child exploitation.

“Support for victims and survivors is a crucial first step to recovery,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “This important grant is part of our government’s plan to combat violent crime on our streets and ensure that victims are not left behind.”
