The union representing Transit Windsor employees is planning a return to the bargaining table this week.
Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 616 represents about 300 transit workers. The union has confirmed it will return to bargaining with the City on Friday.
"ATU 616 will continue to bargain with Transit Windsor, in good faith, in an attempt to secure a fair and reasonable contract for our membership," said Local 616 Financial Secretary and Treasurer Michael Lucier in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca.
The union had originally planned to strike at midnight Sunday, but the walkout was suspended after both the union and the City reported a willingness to keep talking.
Wages, paid time off, and working conditions are the biggest sticking points in talks.
ATU Local 616 held a media conference outside the downtown transit terminal on Tuesday, attended by representatives of the national union.
Transit Windsor also announced Tuesday that its special events bus service to Detroit will run on Sunday, so football fans can attend the Lions' divisional playoff game at Ford Field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The cost is $20 round-trip and registration is open.
