Windsor Police officer accused of discreditable conduct

A 25-year veteran of the Windsor Police Service faces a charge of discreditable conduct under the Ontario Police Services Act.

Windsor Police announced the charge against Inspector Ed Armstrong on Wednesday morning, saying, "Armstrong is accused of acting in a manner that has the potential to bring disrepute to and undermine public confidence in the Windsor Police Service."

Police say allegations of misconduct surfaced last year, and the local service asked Peel Regional Police to investigate the matter.

Windsor Police didn't say what the allegations were but wrote they had nothing to do with a Special Investigations Unit case involving accusations of sexual assault by another police officer.

Armstrong has been reassigned pending the outcome of the proceedings under the Police Services Act.

"As the matter is now before the tribunal, the Windsor Police Service will not comment or release further information at this time," continued a media release.
