UPDATE: Downtown Windsor fire causes $400K in damage

Windsor fire investigators say one person was hurt after a fire Wednesday morning at a downtown Windsor apartment building.

Firefighters responded to an apartment building on Ouellette Avenue between Elliott Street and Erie Street around 8 a.m.

While searching one of the floors, they discovered a resident in distress.

Fire Prevention Officer Mike Coste couldn't say what the injuries were when WindsorNewsToday.ca spoke with him.

The resident is now looking for a place to stay.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and non-suspicious, causing about $400,000 in damage.

This incident is unrelated to a fire on the same block on Thursday afternoon, which resulted in a hazmat team being brought in.
