A new model for Stellantis' electric-vehicle lineup will be built by the autoworkers in Windsor.
The automaker announced Tuesday afternoon that the 2024 Dodge Charger, described as the world's first "all-electric muscle car", will be built at the Windsor Assembly Plant.
According to a release posted on Stellantis North America's official website, production of certain models of the Charger is slated to begin sometime this summer.
"Two-door coupe versions of the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, and 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, will begin production in mid-2024," read the release. "Production of all-electric four-door Daytona Scat Pack and R/T models will begin in the first quarter of 2025. Gas-powered two-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. and four-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. models are also scheduled to begin production in the first quarter of 2025."
The Charger Daytona R/T model will deliver up to 496-horsepower. All models will be all-wheel-drive and will be Stellantis' first vehicles to feature the STLA Large platform.
The 2024 Charger models will be the first all-electric vehicles produced at Windsor Assembly. A hybrid version of Stellantis' signature minivan, the Chrysler Pacifica, is among the Pacifica models currently built in Windsor.
