The Windsor Police Service is establishing an internet exchange zone at the collision reporting centre on Jefferson Boulevard.
There will be two designated spaces where people can park and exchange or purchase goods. The spaces will be under 24/7 camera surveillance however the surveillance is not actively monitored by police officers.
"It's on video camera, no one is there to monitor it but if something nefarious does happen it's on camera and we will investigate any criminality there," said Deputy Chief Jason Crowley.
The transaction zone is meant help prevent fraud, theft, or physical assaults that can occur when meeting with an unknown party.
"If it gives someone the opportunity to feel safe and be safe, why wouldn't we do it?" said Crowley.
While police will have no direct involvement with the transactions, reports can be made and will be investigated.
The spaces with video surveillance will be launched in early April.
