A program that brings music into the lives of homebound people has received a boost from Caesars Windsor.
The entertainment complex's public service arm, Caesars Windsor Cares, has provided the Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) with a $10,000 donation for the orchestra's Music for Health support program.
The orchestra provides a string quartet to retirement homes, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other places to perform.
"Caesars Windsor is proud to be a long-time supporter of the creative spirit of our region," said Caesars Windsor President Kevin Laforet. "We are excited to be a partner with Windsor Symphony Orchestra in maintaining our culturally rich city with a donation to their Music for Health program."
The program was inspired by studies that show the positive impact of music on physical, mental, and emotional health.
Betty Ng, the WSO's Education and Outreach Manager, said the program even has an interactive component.
"Having the residents choose the music from a list engages them in the concert at a higher level, even stimulates conversations about the music and residents’ memories they have with music."
Complete information on the WSO's Music for Health program can be found on the symphony's official website.
