Charity Corn Hole Tournament to support CMHA

Registration is now open for the second annual Tailgate Takeout Charity Corn Hole Tournament.

The tournament will be held at Walkerville Brewery this year in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex Branch Sole Focus program.

The program, funded solely through community donations, offers education, training, mental health awareness and literacy in the community.

"I think it has really helped move the needle in this community when it comes to the stigma around mental health and understanding," said Kim Willis with the CMHA-Windsor and Essex County Branch. "We still always have a ways to go but I think there's a lot more comfort in talking about your mental health, knowing where to go for services, knowing that you're not alone."

Tournament organizer Jen Brignall-Strong launched the community event last year to give back. She wanted to make it bigger this year and support an important community organization.

"I believe in the work they do. I believe in removing the stigma around talking about mental health. They offer so many amazing programs and are really able to get people the help they need," said Brignall-Strong.

Registration is now open through Walkerville Brewery's website. The tournament will held May 25 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Teams of two can register for $65 with all proceeds going to the CMHA- Windsor and Essex County Branch.

There will be 64 teams competing in the tournament run by WC Events and Rentals.

"For the Canadian Mental Health Association, it's a big draw for people. I think recently we've become more aware that we need to be more prevalent with our health care and our mental health care so I think you're going to see a lot of high-level corn horn players come out," said Jayson Charette Owner of WC Events and Rentals.

There will also be raffles, entertainment, and food provided by the F&B Hospitality Group at the tournament.
