Suspect arrested in Edmonton

A man on Canada's most wanted list for an attempted murder in Windsor last summer has been arrested.

John Managhan was taken into custody Monday by the Edmonton Police Service after being listed as one of Canada's most wanted fugitives by the Bolo program just two weeks ago.

"The cooperation and the collaboration it takes is extremely difficult. There's so many moving parts between the information once we receive it here and to pass it along to the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit and then to work in collaboration with their partners out west," said Staff Sergeant Joe Faddoul.

Managhan is a suspect in the shooting of a 33-year-old man on Pierre Avenue on August 15, 2023.

The man was shot several times after a brief verbal argument with a pair of suspects.

"It's difficult to explain why anybody at any point would think that discharging a firearm in the middle of the afternoon at a busy intersection would be an appropriate answer to a verbal argument," said Faddoul

A second suspect, Kyle Small, was arrested in Michigan in November and also faces a charge of attempted murder.

Police say the victim is still recovering.

"He's suffering injuries still from the shooting. As you can imagine being shot five or six times, he will have long-lasting injuries, whether they will be permanent, we're not sure," said Faddoul.

Managhan will be brought back to Windsor under police escort to face an attempted murder charge along with several weapons charges.
