Cyclists will now be able to enjoy more of Leamington's waterfront.
The Municipality announced on Wednesday that a dedicated bicycle path has been completed along the Lake Erie shoreline, between the marina and the dock.
"We are thrilled to offer this enhancement to our waterfront promenade," said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. "The dedicated bike path not only addresses safety concerns, but also enriches the overall experience for residents and visitors alike. As we move into summer, we encourage everyone to take advantage of this new feature and enjoy Leamington’s beautiful waterfront."
Work began on the path earlier this spring as part of the Municipality's waterfront master plan.
Accessibility and safety were the driving forces behind creating the bike path. Previously, bicyclists were not allowed to ride on the promenade, but some did anyway. That created issues with pedestrians.
Complete information about the waterfront master plan can be found on the Municipality's official website.
