New courts unveiled at Remington Booster Park

The City of Windsor unveiled $245,000 of upgrades to Remington Booster Park Thursday morning.

The upgrades include six new pickleball courts, two improved tennis courts, and an improved basketball court.

"We've been able to rehabilitate and renovate these four old tennis courts to now two beautiful tennis courts and six pickleball courts that are going to allow so much more play, so much more community use," said James Chacko.

The courts are ready to use, however further work to complete the colour topcoat on the courts will be done when weather permits.

"Late summer, early fall we'll get the colour coding down but you need some time for the asphalt to cure and just the coordination of the temperature and the vendor availability. There was no reason to see these courts sit idle for three months when certainly they can be well utilized," said Chacko.

Ward 10 Councillor Jim Morrison said he has had many requests for amenities like these.

"Pickleball is just booming and so you can see today without any announcements we've already got people playing on these pickleball courts before the grand opening so I really look forward to this amenity ," said Morrison. "This was something that will get used drastically."

The park is open from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. The courts are one of two lit pickleball courts in the city. All courts are first come first use.
