"Calypso" coming to Pelee Island and Windsor

It could be worth a day trip to Pelee Island if you love Greek mythology.

A team of artists from Minneapolis plans to perform "Calypso" at the Quarry on the island later this month.

The play, at the Stone and Sky Greek Revival Theatre Festival, is set on an island, so Pelee Island is a perfect backdrop. The stone quarry functions as the sea nymph's home and prison. Performed at sunset, John Muschler's play promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience.

The world premiere is June 29. The rain date is June 30. After that, the performing artist plans to take the show across Canada and the U.S.

If you can't make it to Pelee Island, the troupe will be in Windsor on July 5, 6, and 7 at Sho, Art, Spirit and Performance on Monmouth Road. The performance starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $25.
