Motorcyclist dead after single vehicle crash

A 41-year-old from Leamington has died after their motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a tree, catching on fire.

According to Middlesex OPP, they responded to a call at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning to a collision on Longwoods Road near Sassafras Road in the municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and Longwoods Road between Sassafras and Dogwood was closed for several hours for officers to investigate.

Police are asking the public if they have any information that can help investigators to please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
