The Lanspeary Park pool will officially open this Saturday after a $3 million makeover.
As one of the city's oldest pools, it needed major upgrades. The 5,200-square-foot swimming pool is now an L-shaped pool with a beach entry for accessibility.
"It's designed specifically so that we can multi-program it and offer more than one programming in the water at a time. It's a beach entry which is also called a zero depth entry so that people can gradually get in and wade," said Jen Knights, Executive Director of Recreation and Culture.
The pool offers swimming lessons every morning and recreational swims in the afternoon. The pool is also open some evenings.
All other outdoor pools in the city will also open this Saturday except for Central Pool, which is undergoing repairs. Central Pool will open on July 6.
Adventure Bay is also expanding its hours this summer. The water park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
