Summer McIntosh wins Canada's first medal in Paris

Summer McIntosh has won Canada's first medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.

McIntosh took home silver in the women's 400-metre freestyle.

The 17-year-old swimmer was 0.88 seconds behind first place swimmer, Australia's Ariarne Titmus. American Katie Ledecky came in third.

This is McIntosh's first Olympic medal after previously competing in Tokyo back in 2020 and finishing fourth in the same competition.

The Canadian swimmer had little time to celebrate, less than an hour after her individual race and minutes before her medal ceremony, McIntosh competed in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay with fellow Canadian swimmers Maggie Mac Neil, Taylor Ruck and Penny Oleksiak. They finished fourth.
