Spitfires lose against Erie after Otters score five in third period

The Windsor Spitfires have now suffered their first regular season loss of the season.

They were in Erie on Saturday to take on the Otters and ended up losing 6-3.

The Spitfires led 3-1 going into the third but were unable to hold onto their lead.

Nathan Gaymes opened the scoring for the Spitfires under three minutes into the first period. It was his 3rd of the year with Ethan Belchetz getting the only helper.

Jean-Christoph Lemieux doubled the score for Windsor later in the period with his 3rd of the season. Noah Morneau and AJ Spellacy got the assists on the play.

Erie cut the lead nine seconds into in the second period when Gabriel Frasca scored his 2nd on the powerplay.

Ilya Protas would get one back for the Spitfires when he potted his 5th of the year halfway through the period. Liam Greentree and Tnias Mathurin with the assists.

Erie once again made it a one goal game when Dylan Edwards scored his 4th of the season early in the third period.

Wesley Royston would tie the game 3-3 with his 2nd goal.

Just over a minute later, Brett Hammond scored his 1st goal to give Erie its first lead of the game.

Nathan Sauder and Royston would each add an empty netter for the Otters.

With the loss, Windsor sees its record go to 5-1-1-0, while Erie moves to 3-2-0-1.

The Spitfires' next game is on Monday, October 14 at home against the Oshawa Generals.
