Saints join Santa Claus in downtown parade

In addition to celebrating the holiday, this year's Windsor Santa Claus will celebrate the St. Clair Saints Canadian Junior Football League National Championship.

"It was just a great opportunity to appreciate all of the efforts that the team did at St. Clair and have our community really celebrate their success. What better opportunity than the Santa Claus Parade to celebrate the team," said Chris MacLeod, chair of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Area.

On December 7, the team will join 60 dazzling floats, dance troupes, and marching bands along the parade route up Ouellette Avenue and riverside Drive.

"There's brand new participants that we've never seen before that are brining a totally new aspect to the parade. Even local retailers that are coming in with floats that they're designing around something that's new," said Maggie Durocher with the Windsor Parade Corporation.

The parade will travel down Ouelette Avenue from Wyandotte Street to Riverside Drive then head west to Caron Avenue. Festivities start at 6 p.m. A holiday market in the Pelissier Street parking garage begins at 4 p.m.
