Expect slower traffic on Front Road as work continues on waterfront development

Drivers may want to avoid Front Road in LaSalle on Friday as concrete trucks come and go from the LaSalle Landing Loop.

They'll pour concrete on the project site for a new winter skating and a multi-use trail.

The trail will be in a figure-eight on Front Road at LaSalle Landing.

It will include refrigeration piping embedded in the concrete loop.

About 400 cubic metres of concrete will be poured, reinforced by 31 metric tons of steel. Seventy-six foundations and footings will support it 4.8 metres.

"The site will be very busy with activity as trucks will be delivering concrete that needs to be laid in one continuous pour," said the town. "The remainder of the time, workers will be completing the finishing work on the concrete surface."

Trucks are expected to deliver all that concrete by 3 p.m.

The site will also be noisier. LaSalle Town Council approved a noise bylaw exemption for the project.
