A 61-year-old man is facing charges after a knifepoint robbery at an east-end restaurant.
Around 3:30 Monday afternoon, police were called to the restaurant on Tecumseh Road East near Jefferson Boulevard. Officers learned the suspect entered the business, locked the door behind him and took knives from the kitchen.
The suspect then cornered people inside the restaurant and threatened to stab them. He removed money from the cash register and the top jar.
Police arrived on the scene and negotiated a surrender without further incident.
No one was hurt during the robbery.
The man is facing multiple charges including assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats, robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, and breach of probation.
Investigators ask everyone who lives in the area to check their dash-cam or surveillance footage for evidence related to this case.
