The Municipality of Lakeshore is eager to show off its new war memorial in Comber.
The Remembrance Day ceremonies in Comber took place at the newly refurbished Cenotaph, thanks to support from Hydro One.
It's the first project completed under the Community Support Agreement between Lakeshore and the utility.
"Hydro One invests in projects that foster vibrancy, wellbeing, and growth in communities like the Municipality of Lakeshore where we live and work," said Vice President of Strategic Projects and Partnerships Sonny Karunakaran. "As the southwest grows, we'll continue to build partnerships whenever we build infrastructure that supports a clean and sustainable future."
The work includes new landscaping, lighting, signs, benches, and four custom-made poppy benches.
"While Remembrance Day serves as an annual reminder of the important role Canadian veterans played in our country's history, this project will help commemorate their sacrifices on a year-round basis for residents in Comber and throughout Lakeshore," said Mayor Tracey Bailey.
The municipality expects to make more announcements with Hydro One in the future.
